Executive Chef
Michael Lamina is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and for over 20 years has worked in amazing kitchens on both the East Coast and in San Francisco. Honing his skills in such places as Farallon and CAV restaurants and most recently serving as Executive Chef for
Bon Appetit. In 2011 Michael was brought on board to open Leopold’s restaurant and is very excited to return to his love of fresh, authentic Austrian cuisine.

Carla Suntjens has over 25 years of experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. She has spent the past twenty years working for the Plumpjack Group at their landmark restaurant The Balboa Cafe. Her other projects have included opening popular neighborhood bars Amber and Minx. Over the past decade she has traveled throughout Austria and is excited to share her love of Austrian food and wine.

Albert Rainer was born and raised in Salzburg, Austria. In 1989, he opened his first restaurant in San Francisco, the Hyde Street Bistro on Russian Hill. Since then, he has opened and operated Café Metropol in the Financial District, Palmers Tavern in Pacific Heights and Gasthaus Leopolds (opened in 2010) on Russian Hill.
